Honoring God in sharing people’s stories

My Mission as a Journalist

The earth belongs to God, and He is orchestrating history to one day fill the earth with His glory. As a Christian, it is my duty to inspire my readers by showing them what God is doing in the world, both the good and the bad, even if we don’t know His purposes. That includes reporting on issues like the LGBTQ+ community, abortion and the church, in which I must be fair while also representing Christian perspectives without using politically charged language.

A lot of the media today covers topics with a clear bias. But as a Christian, I desire to fairly inform and educate my readers on current issues. I aim to interview and share the stories of people affected by issues, regardless of whether I agree with them. From politics to local issues and events, I want to give a voice to locals who wouldn’t otherwise be heard.

The earth is Yahweh’s, as well as its fullness,

The world, and those who dwell in it.

Psalm 24:1 (LSB)

About Me

I grew up in a Christian home, but I didn’t know the Lord until I was 12.  As I’ve matured, the Lord has sanctified me in Him by His grace, allowing me to better glorify and honor Him. As a student at The Master’s University in Santa Clarita, California, I continued to learn in my Bible classes about the greatness, deepness and perfection of God’s Word.

In middle and high school, I discovered my interest in essays and informational writing and my love for multimedia content creation. I made written and video devotionals to encourage people in God’s Word.

As a TMU student, I continued to grow as a video producer and editor through my video production classes for my marketing media major. But after taking a couple journalism classes, I discovered that I loved meeting new people and telling their stories. Not wanting to finish my degree with a bunch of business marketing classes, I switched my major to communication (journalism).

Since then, I have continued to grow as a reporter in covering sports, politics and campus events and issues. I hope to one day use my degree to inform and inspire the public how God is working in the world.
